OFFSHORE SUPPORT VESSELS STXM currently has a database containing designs for more than seventy Offshore Support Vessels of varying types, many of which are currently in service. Through the years STXM has developed Offshore Supply Vessels (OSV), Anchor Handling Towing Supply (AHTS), and Platform Support Vessel (PSV) designs for operation in shallow water, deep water and ice infested waters found in the hostile polar environments. The search for hydrocarbon resources in the Canadian Beaufort Sea led STXM to the development of highly specialised and innovative designs. STXM subsequently used the knowledge and experience gained to develop designs for vessels employed in offshore operations in other parts of the world including the Eastern Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and the Persian Gulf. Each STXM design is developed to meet the owner's specific operational requirements and the regional environmental conditions. Our current database contains vessels ranging in length from 34m up to 192m and ranging in power from 2,500 bhp up to 67,000 bhp. Clean Design OSV and PSV Recently, STXM has developed offshore supply vessel and platform support vessel designs in accordance with new IMO regulations regarding prevention of pollution from ships. STXM has worked with the regulations, which affect all ships contracted on or after August 1, 2007, to provide our clients with clean design ships based on our existing proven designs. See brochure Anchor Handling Towing Supply Vessels (AHTS) STXM's experience with AHTS design is extensive ranging from ice strengthened anchor handlers for the Beaufort Sea to large multi-role vessels for use in the Gulf of Mexico. Our most recent success, Seacor's MV John Coghill was a joint design effort between Seacor and STXM. The 260' (79m) vessel was delivered mid-November 2007 after completing successful sea trials and exceeds the designed bollard pull of 120T. Offshore Support Vessels (OSV) and Platform Support Vessels (PSV) The design philosophy adopted by STXM works to maximize the efficiency and capacity of our support and supply vessels, while maintaining low capital costs and high crew comfort. We have at our disposal a portfolio of existing advanced analysis studies on dynamic positioning, hull efficiency, thruster positioning, and more that allow STXM to provide our clients with efficient ship designs based on cutting edge technology at no added cost. Specialized Designs STXM has experience in several other offshore support vessel types including:
STXM provides design support to our parent company STX Offshore & Shipbuilding ASA in Norway on a vast range of specialized offshore vessels and has access to the Aker Yards group's full design resources. |
